ENT for Children

ENT Examinations for Children at the Private ENT Practice of Prim. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Franz in Vienna

As an ENT specialist in Vienna, I place special importance on child-friendly and compassionate care. At my private practice, I conduct thorough examinations to optimally support hearing and speech development. This allows potential conditions to be detected early and treated effectively, ensuring the best possible care for your child.

ENT Surgeries in Children

  • Adenoidectomy and Tonsillectomy
An adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure to remove enlarged adenoids (also called polyps). This procedure is typically performed in children when enlarged adenoids cause breathing problems, snoring, or middle ear infections.
A tonsillectomy is the complete surgical removal of the palatine tonsils. It is often performed in children with recurrent tonsillitis or to treat breathing difficulties caused by enlarged tonsils.
  • Tonsillotomy
A tonsillotomy is a surgical procedure in which the tonsils are only partially removed to reduce their size. Unlike tonsillectomy, where the tonsils are completely removed, tonsillotomy preserves the immune function of the tonsils. It is often performed in children with enlarged tonsils to relieve breathing problems, snoring, or sleep disorders.
  • Myringotomy with Ventilation Tubes (Ear Tubes)
A myringotomy with ventilation tubes, also called ear tube insertion, is a procedure in which a small tube is placed in the eardrum to improve middle ear ventilation and treat fluid buildup (effusion). This procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
